Drug Uses

Imitrex is used to treat migraine headaches.

MODE OF APPLICATION

If you have symptoms of a migraine, you should take one dose of the drug. In some cases two doses, but not more than 200 mg per day, in other cases, a consultation with a specialist.

THE MECHANISM OF ACTION

Imitrex is used to treat migraines. Migraines and headaches are believed to result from the expansion of blood vessels in the head. Imitrex causes constriction of blood vessels, thus relieving migraine. Although the medicine is very effective in relieving migraine, it may not prevent or reduce the number of migraine attacks.

MISSED DOSE

Imitrex is used to treat migraines or headaches, but are not used to prevent them. Use only the specified dosage in accordance with the instructions of a doctor.

STORAGE

Store at room temperature away from heat and light. Keep medicines out of children.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

If you have any of the following conditions, then you should not take Imitrex (Imitrex) if you are allergic to this drug, Raynaud syndrome, strokes in the past, certain types of heart disease, transient ischemic attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease. You should consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are smoking; you have a high level of cholesterol or high blood pressure, diabetes.

SIDE EFFECTS

When you take Imitrex can appear the following side effects: dizziness, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, give up the use of Imitrex and seek emergency medical attention:

• an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or hives), severe or prolonged chest pain or irregular heartbeat, chest pain in the neck, tightness, sudden or severe abdominal pain, eye problems, unusual weakness or numbness.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely. Continue to use Imitrex and talk to your doctor if you experience nausea, drowsiness or dizziness, tingling, redness, warmth, redness, or heaviness in some parts of the body, unpleasant taste in the mouth (nasal spray), irritation of the nose (nasal spray) or discomfort (injection).
