Leukeran (Chlorambucil)

Usage indications

This drug is used for some cancer types treatment. It can be used for other diseases treatment as well based on doctor's recommendations. Leukeran is alciliric agent. It acts by binding some cancers cells with RNA or DNA by slowing their growth and development.

Application mode

This drug is drastic. Take this drug on doctor recommendation only. It is recommended to take leukeran together with big amount of liquid. This will prompt drug discharge from organism and reduce the risk of some side effects development. It is not recommended to stop drug intake in case of nausea or vomiting. Contact your doctor immediately in case of nausea right after the dose intake or timely dose intake missing.

Drug class and mechanism of action

Chlorambucil is one of the drugs from alciliric agent drugs. These drugs are know as the drugs for the treatment of cancer, edema, chemical therapy or "chemical". They are used for the treatment of various types of cancer for slowing down or stopping cancer cells growth. These drugs are frequently used in combination to obtain better results and side effects development decrease.

Missed doses

Double dosage intake is prohibited in case of dose intake missing. be sure to contact your doctor on this matter

Storage

Store this drug at the fridge at the temperature of  2-8°С (36 - 46°F).

Warning/precautions

Leukeran can cause cancer or weaken bone marrow. Be sure to contact your doctor in case of infection symptoms development (sore throat or fever), light bruises, bleeding or unusual tiredness. 

Leukeran can cause chromosome disruption, infertility or appearance innate deffects of children.

Side effects

Vomiting, nausea or period changes are the most common side effects. The drug intake before meal causes nausea. Drug intake together with full glass of water prompts nausea easing. Diet change, meal by small portions or limited activity can cause some of these side effects decrease. In some case  the intake of additional drugs might be required for nausea or vomiting ease. Be sure to contact your doctor immediately in case if any of the following symptoms arise: fever, shivering, painful or difficult urination, light bruises or bleeding, tar-like stool, bloody urine or stool, small spot on the skin, muscles pain, legs edema, mouth or lips ulcers, eyes or skin yellowing, cough, pain at back or side lower part, walking problems, muscle spasms, agitation, blurred consciousness, hallucinations, weakness or paralysis. Allergic reactions are rare but be sure to contact your doctor in case if they occur. The allergic reaction symptoms are the following: rash, itch, edema, giddiness, breathing problems. Be sure to contact your doctor in case if other side effects occur.

Additional information

Touch your eyes or nose with clean hands only. Be cautious when handling sharp units such as safety rasors or manicure scissors avoid contact sport types to avoid the possibility of cuts, bruises or abrasions. Visit your doctor regularly, make blood tests for treatment course assessment.
